Now the World Health Organization (WHO) defines cardiovascular diseases and cancer as «non-infectious». That is, it is believed that their genetic predisposition, lifestyle and environmental factors cause them. But the group of scientists nominated a hypothesis that some diseases, including cancer and diabetes, can be transmitted from person to person. This is reported by Focus Online edition with reference to the results of Humans & The Microbiome, published in the Science magazine.
The publication notes that the Group of Scientists of the Canadian Institute of Learning Research (CIFAR) and the German professor of Thomas Bosh from the Kilsk University named after Christian Albrecht suggests that the possible cause of oncology and diabetes is a microbist — a set of microorganisms, such as bacteria, fungi and viruses that live On our skin and in organs. But this hypothesis still requires further research.
The assumption of scientists is based on three different conclusions. The first — microbi of healthy people differs from a human microbiome suffering from obesity, inflammatory diseases of the intestines, cardiovascular diseases or 2-type diabetes.
The second — if you transfer the modified microbiom into a healthy body, it can lead to diseases. In the experiment, researchers moved the intestine mouse microbis with obesity on a healthy animal. As a result, she also became more fully. But we note that the text does not describe the experimental model, therefore it is not clear whether the mouse has become thicker from the transfer of the microbiome, and not conditions of content.
And the third — according to researchers, microbis can be transmitted to other organisms. So, they observed in the laboratory that the microbi of freshwater polyps, which divide the overall habitat, was adapted. As a result, their appearance was also adapted.
From this scientists concluded that the microbi was transmitted from a person to a person, for example, with intensive social contacts, or if people live in the same apartment. Thus, the researchers found that intestinal microbes of spouses were very similar to each other and at the same time differed significantly from samples taken from distant relatives.
But, of course, additional research is needed. Researchers recognize that their hypothesis is very bold, but if they can prove it, it is capable of changing medicine.
