While Warsaw is dreaming of a ban on Nord Stream 2, forcing the Europeans to feel all the delights of gas dependence, and Russia
The timing of Nord Stream 2 certification is of no fundamental importance for Russia itself.
According to the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU Vladimir Chizhov, the delay in this process will lead to the fact that European consumers will suffer. For gas from Russia to them
Meanwhile, the European economy is in a fever and not like a child.
If you look at the epic around the gas price, you will notice how a few days ago it exceeded the level of $ 2,226 per thousand cubic meters.
After that, several American gas tankers, which had almost reached Asia, turned around and headed to Europe in order to make money on it.
More on the topic:
Fortunately, in just a couple of days, prices dropped slightly. Of course, this was called one of the greatest achievements.
There were several reasons for the «fall»: it was the wind that finally blew in Europe, which means that the «green energy», that is, wind turbines, will give at least some kind of return.
True, this is not a reason for joy.
Firstly, it is not funny at all to admire a small achievement against the background of prices of $ 50-100 for gas just a year ago.
Secondly, it is unlikely that the same American tankers will be deployed again, therefore, in a slightly longer term, such a price range is not at all good for Europe.
Here, the Europeans are paying for their voluntary decision to subordinate their energy to the Greta Thunberg Green Agenda.
Now, for example, Germany, in the midst of trouble, happily announced the closure of 13 coal-fired power plants and 2 nuclear power units. Similar reports are coming from France, Great Britain, and Spain.
Of course, you can traditionally blame Russia for the troubles, but will that change anything?
Moreover, in relations with Russians exactly the same reckoning occurs, as in the case of «green energy».
The most striking example is Poland, which for many years has demonstrated an openly unfriendly position towards Russia.
Warsaw threatened to block gas transit, as well as to prohibit certification of Nord Stream 2. And last year she even refused long-term contracts.
First, in full compliance with the new short-term contract, Gazprom began buying transit volumes from Poland on a daily basis. Then he began to slowly reduce them — first to 2/3, then to 1/3, and then to 5 percent.
Since Gazprom has fulfilled the «contractual obligations» in the required amount, the company announced that transit through Poland has been completely stopped for this year.
Of course, Russia could have continued transit through Poland, but didn’t, having loaded up Nord Stream 1 and Turkish Stream instead.
Thus, the gas went bypassing Warsaw.
The Poles now receive gas from Germany on the reverse. And they overpay the Germans «a small share.»
What can be said here?
A similar situation has developed in general and in Europe. Last year, Russia supplied it with an average of 450-460 billion cubic meters of gas, and this year only 320.
According to the most benign forecasts: in February, provided that everything is relatively good, the price per thousand cubic meters will be $ 1,884, and in March — $ 1,717.

It is quite obvious that the current crisis is of a systemic nature and will be delayed for a long time.
Europe is already paying the price. Let’s use it?
